I always wanted to watch Alien Covenant (and re-watch Prometheus) so I can understand why people have such a dismissive opinion on Covenant. And now I understand it.
There is no metric under which Covenant is better than Prometheus, while Prometheus actually tries to ask some questions (and leave them unanswered, because fuck why not) Covenant is just a bunch of people mindless droning around doing everything a human would not do (we have a thing called self-preservation instinct built in, I don’t think Ridley Scott got the memo) and if the master reveal at the end of Covenant would have been that the team (Danny, Tennessee and the rest I already forgot after few hours) was just assembled with some 1st generation androids, that would have been a better ending. Alien Covenant is the movie that convinced me that Ridley Scott is a fraud.
Prometheus? Maybe. Alien Covenant? Fuck no.
