Wikileaks founder Julian Assange can be extradited from the UK to the US, the High Court has ruled. The US won its appeal against a January UK court ruling that he could not be extradited due to concerns over his mental health. Judges were reassured by US promises to reduce the risk of suicide. This is beyond ironic. The United States of America has been bullying and strong-arming the whole globe for over a century, toppled democratic regimes (from Mohammad Mosaddegh to Salvador Allende and on), had supported countless dictators in their countries with funds and arms, treated Latin American countries as banana republics, has invaded and occupied four countries just in the last 20 years (plus countless bombings), keeps torture camps (from Abu Ghraib to Guantanamo), and maintains hundreds of army bases all over the world, not to mention global surveillance. It’s the only country in the world that used nuclear bombs in wars, and on civilians nonetheless.

The USA is sending a signal but fortunately, the world is not unipolar. There are China, Russia, Iran. You know, the “bad guys”. By the way, did you hear that the driver of the Kim Jong Un’s uncle used a rubber dildo to bludgeon one of his enemies to death? You did not? I guess you’re not reading enough of the free press, like, you know, Reuters, Washington Post, NY Post, BBC, The Guardian and their ilk.

Not sure what else to say. We’re on the wrong side of history and future humans will look at us the same way we’re looking at Germany in WWII. We’re just following orders.

Update

EU cares a lot about the “censorship, intimidation and surveillance of journalists” too. Only the Chinese ones though. Not Julian Assange.
